New Feed-In Tariff Rates Announced!

The new Feed-in Tariffs (FIT) rates that will be applicable from 1st October 2015 until 31st December 2015 have been announced by Ofgem. As expected, due to deployment rates, the generation FIT rates for onshore wind have been decreased across all capacity bands. Wind turbines below 100kW have seen a 5% cut whereas the 100-500kW bracket faces a 10% cut. Although disappointing for some investors, the degression do demonstrate how well onshore wind is able to continue to develop and stack up financially, even with the decreased Government support, as the technology and market has improved rapidly.

The FIT rates for our current turbine models are outlined below:

The Feed-in Tariff rate for solar photovoltaics (PV) installs has stayed mostly the same with the only decrease being in the 10-50kW capacity bracket. This means that the current FIT rates for PV are:

  • 10-50kW – 11.30p/kWh (down from 11.71p/kWh)

  • 50-150kW – 9.63p/kWh

  • 150-250kW – 9.21p/kWh

  • 250kW-5MW – 5.94p/kWh

Plus the export tariff remains fixed at 4.85p for every kWh exported to the National Grid.
